Fast and Furious 4 was released 3 years later after the third installment. Despite it's the fourth film of the Fast and Furious series, the story was set before the third installment. This 2009 American street racing action film was directed by Justin Lin and written by Chris Morgan. The story follows the franchise's original film. Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster reprise their roles. It was the first motion-enhanced theatrical film to feature D-BOX motion feedback technology in selected theaters.

2 Fast 2 Furious is the second installment in the series of Fast and Furious. It was directed by John Singleton in 2003. It is the only film in the series not to feature Vin Diesel in the cast, though his character Dominic Toretto is referred to in the film. The story follows the first trilogy. Paul Walker returns as ex-cop Brian O'Conner who teams up with his childhood friend (also ex-con pal) Roman Pearce (Gibson). This time they are re-united by the FBI to bring down a Miami drug exporter in exchange for clear records.
