How far would you go to protect your child? If you are not
sure, you might find some clues from the movie of Prisoners. PRISONERS is a
2013 American thriller film directed by Oscar (R)-nominated director Denis
Villeneuve. It has an ensemble cast including Oscar (R) nominees Hugh Jackman
and Jake Gyllenhaal. Keller Dover is facing every parent's worst nightmare. His
6-year-old daughter is missing, together with her young friend and as minutes
turn to hours, panic sets in. The only lead is a dilapidated RV that had
earlier been parked on their street. The plot focuses on the abduction of the two
young girls and the search to find them.
The film was originally rated NC-17 by the MPAA for
substantial disturbing violent content and explicit images, but after being
edited, it was re-rated to R for disturbing violent content including torture,
and language throughout. It premiered at the 2013 Telluride Film Festival and was
released theatrically on September 18 in Canada and September 20, 2013 in North
America. Prisoners grossed $122,126,687 for a worldwide gross ($61,002,302 in
North America and $61,124,385 in foreign countries).
