An Unexpected Journey 3D Extended Edition Blu-ray Review
The Extended Edition set is a must-own release. Regardless
of how you react to the new cut, its video presentation is outstanding, its 3D
experience is most impressive, its DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround track is
terrific, and its supplemental package is so exhaustive it's almost exhausting
to dig through. Jackson and Boyens offer up an excellent commentary, and nine
hours of Appendices material explores every last aspect of the production.
Frankly, the Appendices discs are worth the cost of admission alone.

2: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Reviews
- The Hobbit may not be as memorable as the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but it's a mostly faithful adaptation that sticks to the same tones and themes of the source material. - Jeremy Lebens from We Got This Covered
- It's a journey that any fan of Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" Trilogy should enjoy. - Wesley Lovell from Cinema Sight
- As it stands, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is a thoroughly engaging, often rip-roaring, old school yarn. It's got scope, excitement, and above all, emotional heft. - Bill Gibron from PopMatters
- Martin Freeman as Bilbo is superb and there couldn't be a better choice. The rest of the cast is pitch perfect as well. Anyway, great film. I think it's better than Fellowship, and I'll be seeing it again for sure and can't wait for the sequels. - Munin75 from IMDB
- An Unexpected Journey offers an unparalleled visual spectacle - Mary Clare Waireri from Fan The Fire
- The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey had me with the dulcet melancholy of displaced Dwarves, yearning to be home. - Blake Howard from 2UE That Movie Show
- Charming, spectacular, technically audacious… in short, everything you expect from a Peter Jackson movie. A feeling of familiarity does take hold in places, but this is an epically entertaining first course. - Matthew Leyland
